A blast from the past is sometimes what a longtime fan needs to be reminded of why they started listening to a project in the first place, or even to act as an introduction to fresh faced listeners that aren’t overly familiar. Contrasts are taking no breaks this year, continuing to boost their most recent EP False Idol while working on a reworked version of their first ever track Far From Focus that dropped in 2022. Going back to where it began to signal a fine-tuned, magnetic future in an endearing full circle moment for the band.
Where the initial track lacked power, the remastered version fulfills all your melodic dance-esque track needs. Immediately the vocals are cleaner and full of life, taking centre stage in the mix as opposed to fading into the background. The drums feel punchier, making a booming impact as the guitars come in full-bodied and crunchy. Not to mention the newly added guitar solo, which really brings the track together.
Allowing a pause before preparing to round off the song on a velvety verse. Lulling you into a false sense of security, ending on a cleansing vocal fry complemented with a deep growl.
Overall, this track has proven it just needed a few tweaks and adjustments to really shine through. Instead of leaving you wanting for more, the track finishes by leaving the listener satisfied. Now the instrumentals and vocals are polished and well balanced.
